What It Is
ARA-290 (also known as Cibinetide or pHBSP) is an 11-amino-acid synthetic peptide derived from the tissue-protective helix B domain of erythropoietin (EPO). Designed as a non-erythropoietic analog, it selectively binds and activates the Innate Repair Receptor (IRR)—a heteromer formed by the erythropoietin receptor and the beta-common receptor or CD131)—without stimulating red blood cell production.
What It Is Commonly Used For
-
Neuropathic Repair & Small Fiber Neuropathy: Studied for its ability to stimulate nerve fiber regeneration, reduce neuropathic pain signaling, and increase small nerve fiber density in peripheral tissues.
-
Anti-Inflammatory Cytokine Regulation: Evaluated for its capacity to downregulate pro-inflammatory cytokines via activation of the Innate Repair Receptor during tissue injury.
-
Tissue Protection & Ischemic Cytoprotection: Researched in metabolic and organ injury models for protecting vascular endothelium, suppressing apoptosis, and enhancing recovery after ischemic or diabetic stress.
General Purpose
To provide a selective Innate Repair Receptor agonist for investigating peripheral nerve regeneration, anti-inflammatory signaling cascades, cellular protection mechanisms, and neuropathic repair pathways in laboratory research.
