What It Is
IGF-1 LR3 is a synthetic, modified 83-amino-acid recombinant analog of human Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1. It features a substitution of Glutamic acid with Arginine at position 3, along with a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension. This structural modification significantly decreases its binding affinity to IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs), vastly extending its active biological half-life to approximately 20 to 24 hours.
What It Is Commonly Used For
-
Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy & Myogenesis: Studied for its ability to activate the Akt/mTOR signaling cascade, stimulating satellite cell proliferation, myoblast differentiation, and protein synthesis.
-
Nutrient Partitioning & Cellular Glucose Uptake: Evaluated for enhancing glucose and amino acid transport directly into muscle tissue cells, mimicking insulin activity while suppressing glycogen storage in adipocytes.
-
Inhibition of Cellular Apoptosis: Researched in tissue culture and cellular models for promoting cell survival, microvascular expansion, and systemic repair of damaged muscle fibers.
General Purpose
To provide an extended-half-life growth factor analog for investigating mTOR pathway activation, muscle cell hyperplasia, cellular nutrient uptake, and binding protein dynamics in laboratory research.
